Charitable Giving – Who is Making Contributions?
If you have done any sort of estate planning with your attorney or financial advisor, you have likely had a discussion about charitable giving. There are several different methods for remembering a charity in your will, including bequests, donor-advised funds, or charitable remainder trusts. You may not consider your own financial circumstances worthy of being called "an estate", but really any property, cash, or other investments left after you have passed are considered an estate, and you should have a will as well as documents such as a power of attorney in place, regardless of your age, to handle the distribution of your "estate".
